As Trump administration comes for trans healthcare, ‘who’s subsequent?’

To the editor: The article about Kids’s Hospital Los Angeles closing its pediatric gender clinic after 30 years acknowledged, “In June, the choice to shutter the clinic was broadly condemned. Advocates mentioned Kids’s Hospital L.A. had ‘thrown trans youngsters underneath the bus’ in disregard of state legislation. Few are saying that now” (“Finish of transgender care at Kids’s Hospital L.A. alerts nationwide shift underneath Trump,” July 23).

Quite the opposite, on July 17, round 100 folks gathered in entrance of CHLA in protest, the most recent in quite a few demonstrations in opposition to the closure. That’s not a “few.”

To paraphrase Martin Niemöller’s poem, “First they got here for the trans youngsters, and I didn’t communicate up as a result of I used to be not a trans child.” Who’s subsequent with this administration? Sadly, we are going to discover out quickly sufficient. Disgrace on CHLA for obeying upfront.

To the editor: It’s one factor to have guidelines on rest room use and sports activities participation and one other to disclaim care to transgender youth. It is a unhealthy look, conservatives; unloving and exceptionally weak.
