To the editor: I admire visitor contributor Raul A. Reyes’ concern that Immigration and Customs Enforcement wants oversight (“Immigration enforcement wants oversight. ICE can’t simply ban lawmakers,” Aug. 21) — however sadly, the Rubicon has been crossed and there’s no governmental curiosity in oversight. These in energy are solely excited about instilling terror and cementing their management. Democrats want to achieve management of each homes so ICE in its present kind is disbanded and defunded.

Most People usually are not afraid of immigrants who’re undocumented or overstayed their visas, however they’re afraid of ICE and take no consolation in how they’re conducting enterprise.

Terry Shenkman, Culver Metropolis

..

To the editor: I’ve nothing in opposition to deporting undocumented individuals who have been convicted of violent crimes (“Most California voters disapprove of Trump’s immigration enforcement insurance policies, ballot exhibits,” Aug. 24). Can somebody clarify to me why this authorities just isn’t going into all of the overcrowded prisons within the nation, discovering the undocumented and deporting them as an alternative of patrolling the streets?

And cease blaming former President Biden. Sure, I’m sorry he didn’t shut the border, however he was attempting to do it the fitting method, with laws to alter your entire immigration system. Sadly, he and people round him didn’t notice that Congress and our present president wouldn’t permit that to occur. However to separate up households and go after individuals who have been selecting our produce, constructing our homes, caring for our youngsters and the aged and mowing our lawns is simply so outrageous, merciless, undemocratic and un-American.
