South Carolina Republican state Rep. Mark Smith launched a bid for U.S. Congress.

He’s working for the seat within the Palmetto State’s 1st Congressional District, which is at the moment occupied by U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, who’s working for governor.

Mace launched a gubernatorial bid earlier this month, leaving her Home seat up for grabs within the 2026 election.

“Within the State Home, I fought for the most important tax reduce in South Carolina historical past, backed the blue, cracked down on unlawful immigration, and defended our values with out apology,” Smith declared in a Thursday put up on X.

Smith has served within the state Home of Representatives since late 2020. 

“In South Carolina’s 1st District, we’d like a confirmed conservative chief who will combat for President Trump’s America First agenda and ship outcomes — not drama,” he stated within the X put up.
