Lawmakers Push for Royal Accountability in Epstein Investigation

Vice President JD Vance has endorsed bipartisan efforts to secure testimony from Prince Andrew regarding his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The statement follows recent remarks by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer suggesting the royal family member should cooperate with investigators.

Growing Pressure for Transparency

“I’m certainly open to it,” Vance stated when asked about compelling Andrew’s testimony during a recent interview. “I’ll let congressional leaders determine whether they should talk to Prince Andrew. It’s their call, not mine.”

This development comes after newly released Justice Department documents revealed Andrew maintained regular contact with Epstein for years following the financier’s 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. The records include emails discussing potential business deals and social engagements.

Documentary Evidence Sparks Controversy

The recently unsealed files contain photographic evidence showing Andrew with his hand on a woman’s waist in Epstein’s Manhattan residence. Additional correspondence details Epstein arranging a 2010 London meeting between Andrew and a Russian woman described as “clever, beautiful, and trustworthy.”

Prime Minister Starmer emphasized the importance of cooperation, stating: “Anybody who has information should be prepared to share that in whatever form they are asked. You can’t be victim-centered if you’re not prepared to do that.”

Political Reactions and Legal Context

Vance characterized the documents as exposing “an incestuous nature among America’s elites,” while maintaining that former President Donald Trump maintained distance from Epstein after becoming aware of his behavior. Congressional investigators continue examining how U.S. authorities handled Epstein’s case prior to his 2019 jailhouse death.

Legal constraints prevent U.S. lawmakers from subpoenaing Andrew directly due to his status as a foreign national. The royal family removed Andrew’s official titles in 2025 following renewed scrutiny of his Epstein connections.

Background and Previous Settlements

Andrew previously settled a civil lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre for £12 million in 2022 after she accused him of sexual assault when she was a minor. The former prince has consistently denied all allegations and declined previous invitations to testify before Congress.

The latest document release includes references to Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson discussing potential romantic matches for Epstein after his conviction. Epstein’s estate records also mention unspecified “massages for Andrew” among financial transactions.

Andrew was recently seen driving near Windsor Castle but has not publicly addressed the latest revelations. Congressional investigators continue reviewing thousands of pages of evidence as their bipartisan probe expands.
