Reality Star Revisits Infamous Soap Opera Moment

Former Hollyoaks actor Curtis Pritchard has brought new attention to his unintentionally viral performance during a recent episode of Love Island: All Stars. The professional dancer-turned-reality star recreated the much-memed “How’s Trish” scene that originally gained notoriety during his 2021 soap opera appearance.

The Original Viral Moment

The infamous scene originated during Pritchard’s brief storyline on the long-running Channel 4 drama, where he and twin brother AJ portrayed rival dancers attempting to steal a contact book from character Trish Minniver. While the plot itself drew little attention, the brothers’ delivery of certain lines – particularly Curtis’s monotone “How’s Trish” – quickly became a social media sensation.

Industry observers note the moment gained traction due to its perceived lack of dramatic conviction, with many viewers commenting on the reality stars’ limited acting experience compared to trained performers.

Love Island Recreation Goes Viral Again

During a recent episode of the reality show’s All Stars edition, Pritchard decided to revisit the moment with fellow contestant Ciaran Davies. The pair faithfully recreated the exchange, complete with Pritchard’s deadpan delivery of the signature line.

“True, how’s Trish?” Pritchard asked in the recreation, struggling to maintain composure while Davies responded with scripted dialogue about the fictional character’s romantic disappointment. The pair dissolved into laughter after completing the scene, with Davies reportedly stating: “I am so happy we’ve done that.”

Industry Reactions to Reality Crossovers

The original 2021 performance sparked debate within the acting community about the casting of reality personalities in dramatic roles. Several established soap actors publicly criticized the decision at the time.

Veteran Hollyoaks performer Gerard McCarthy commented: “The next time a producer says ‘but they have a big social media following’… Just point them in the direction of this absolute car crash!” Former cast member Parry Glasspool added: “It’s agonizing to watch. The pain of knowing that trained actors face countless rejections while reality stars get opportunities based on fame alone.”

Pritchard Brothers Respond to Criticism

In previous interviews, the twins have acknowledged their unconventional casting while maintaining positive attitudes about the experience. “Our acting on that was GCSE grade quality,” Curtis admitted during a podcast appearance last year. “We were ultimately thrown into the deep end, that bad.”

AJ Pritchard reflected on the challenges of soap opera production, noting: “We went on with a whole script we’d learned, then they changed every scene. I never understood how storylines could change so fluidly.” When addressing negative feedback, Curtis emphasized focusing on positivity: “We always get different reactions. For me, it’s always about staying positive.”

The viral moment continues to resurface in popular culture, demonstrating how unexpected television moments can achieve lasting recognition in the digital age.
