YouTube affords voluntary buyouts as firm reorganizes round AI

YouTube is providing voluntary buyouts with severance for U.S.-based workers because it restructures its product group to focus extra on synthetic intelligence.

The transfer comes as Google CEO Sundar Pichai pushes workers to spice up productiveness through the use of AI throughout the corporate.

In an inner memo to employees, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan stated the platform is reorganizing its product groups for the primary time in a decade.

“Seeking to the longer term, the subsequent frontier for YouTube is AI,” a YouTube spokesperson stated in a press release to CNBC. The buyouts had been first reported by Alex Heath at Sources.

YouTube stated no roles are being eradicated as a part of the change.

Beneath the brand new construction, three product teams will now report on to Mohan.

Christian Oestlien, beforehand vp of product administration, will lead the subscription merchandise division, which oversees YouTube Music and Premium, YouTube TV, Primetime Channels, Podcasts and Commerce.
