On January 31 and February 1, episodes 5 and 6 of Undercover Miss Hong were released on Netflix. At its core, the series follows a covert investigation within a questionable investment company. The operation is led by Hong Geum-bo, a highly skilled financial inspector. The 35-year-old Geum-bo works for the Financial Supervisory Service.

When suspicious fund movements surface, she is chosen for an undercover task. As a result, she enters Hanmin Investment and Securities as a 20-year-old junior employee. Once inside, she handles entry-level duties while quietly observing the system. Eventually, she crosses paths with her ex Shin Jung-woo, who is also the firm’s ambitious chief executive. Because of his influence, every interaction carries tension as Undercover Miss Hong progresses.

Undercover Miss Hong episodes 5 and 6 overview

Undercover Miss Hong‘s episode 5 opens with Mi-sook being revealed as a single mother, a fact she has been hiding while living in the dorms. Her young daughter, Bom, has been staying in a children’s home because Mi-sook’s job and housing situation do not allow children. The dorm has strict rules, and keeping a child there is explicitly forbidden. Mi-sook knows this, but still struggles to stay away from her daughter.

Bom first appears when the women return home to find the dorm in complete chaos. Jang-mi nearly attacks the intruder with an abacus, only to realize it is a small child. Jang-mi responds without emotion, stating that Bom is not allowed to remain in the dorm. Things escalate when Bom returns to the dorm, soaked in water, while Jang-mi is away. The emotional pressure pushes Mi-sook, Eun-jo, and Bok-hee to secretly keep Bom in the dorm without telling Jang-mi.

That decision nearly ends in disaster. Bom develops a high fever and is left alone in the dorm. Jang-mi rushes Bom to the hospital and personally looks after her. Bom, however, quickly realizes that Jang-mi holds authority in the group and overhears critical information, including the name Geum-Bo.

With no other option, Jang-mi makes a deal with Bom. She allows Bom to stay with Mi-Sook temporarily on the condition that Bom keeps quiet about what she heard and saw. Meanwhile, Kang becomes convinced that someone inside Hanmin is sabotaging him, so he orders Oh to track down the whistleblowers. Oh suspects So-Bang-Cha, the three department heads, but the search goes nowhere.

At the same time, Song Ju-ran aggressively pushes for a promotion and becomes eager to deliver results for Kang. She informs him that photos exist of Myeong-hwi with Geum-bo, though Geum-bo’s face isn’t clearly visible. Ju-ran also mentions that Geum-bo has been transferred and likely won’t return. Meanwhile, Jang-mi, still undercover as Geum-bo, convinces Yong-gi to hack into Cha’s computer.

Through recorded audio, she discovers the existence of the Outstanding Women Employee Club during a conversation between Cha and Ju-ran. What she doesn’t realize yet is how far Ju-ran is willing to go for power. In between, Jang-mi repeatedly gets mistaken for Geum-bo. Even Ju-ran directly comments on how similar Jang-mi looks to Geum-bo and briefly wonders if she has a sister before being distracted.

She later asks Bok-hee to investigate Jang-mi’s background. Although Bok-hee initially reports that Jang-mi is an only child, her curiosity leads her to dig deeper, uncovering records of a sister and Jang-mi’s troubled delinquent past. Episode 6 of Undercover Miss Hong reveals the truth behind the Outstanding Women Employee Club. Publicly, it was formed in 1993 to support female employees. In reality, it functions as a slush fund controlled by Song Ju-ran.

The Undercover Miss Hong episode also shows that Ju-ran ordered the murder of I-gyeong, the woman killed near the reservoir, by the same man who previously kidnapped Geum-bo. Twelve billion won had been transferred to I-gyeong when she was named an Outstanding Woman Employee. She misused the money, spiraled into serious trouble, and was ultimately killed. After her death, Bok-nee became the next name tied to the fund.

Bok-hee’s personal life collapses when her abusive brother, Go Bok-cheol, is released from prison. He immediately demands money and violently assaults her in public. Geum-bo intervenes and saves her, triggering flashbacks that show Bok-hee only took this job to escape him in the first place. Jang-mi grows worried and describes Bok-cheol to her roommates, but the description accidentally matches Shin Jung-woo.

When Shin appears outside the building in a trench coat, the women attack him, mistaking him for the abusive brother. Bok-hee realizes the misunderstanding and stops them, believing Shin is there to surprise No-ra on a date. No-ra independently pieces together Shin’s identity after speaking with her mother, hinting at future complications. Shin also later pressures Jang-mi to admit she was Geum-bo before deciding not to expose her.

The episode ends with Albert asking Jang-mi out. She initially refuses due to the age gap, but he insists that 20-25 isn’t a problem, unaware she’s actually 35. Her boss pressures her into accepting the date for the sake of the investigation. The biggest shock comes at the end when Albert meets privately with the kidnapper in Undercover Miss Hong.

The next episodes of Undercover Miss Hong suggest Jang-mi might receive the Outstanding Woman title next. It would redirect the money back under Shin’s control and leave Bok-hee empty-handed.
