Trump requests Supreme Court docket overturn E. Jean Carroll sexual abuse and defamation verdict

President Donald Trump requested the Supreme Court docket on Monday to evaluate a $5 million civil judgment that discovered him chargeable for sexually abusing and defaming author E. Jean Carroll.

A jury in 2023 awarded the judgment after it discovered Trump liable of sexual abuse, following Carroll’s allegations that Trump assaulted her within the dressing room of a Manhattan division retailer in 1996 and later defamed her throughout his first time period by referring to her allegations as a “hoax” and a “con job.”

“There have been no eyewitnesses, no video proof, and no police report or investigation,” Trump’s legal professionals wrote of their submitting to the Supreme Court docket.

“As an alternative, Carroll waited greater than 20 years to falsely accuse Donald Trump, who she politically opposes, till after he grew to become the forty fifth president, when she may maximize political damage to him and revenue for herself,” the submitting added.

It’s unclear whether or not the excessive court docket will take up the civil case.
