The cast of Apple TV’s The Studio has reportedly withdrawn from the network’s highly-anticipated press day.

Deadline reported on Saturday, January 31, that The Studio team will no longer attend Apple TV’s press day on Tuesday, February 3.

“We are all heartbroken by the loss of Catherine O’Hara,” Apple and Lionsgate wrote in a joint statement shared by the outlet. “An undeniable legend, icon, and incomparable talent, Catherine elevated every project she was a part of, including the singular genius she brought to her role on The Studio, and every transcendent performance she gifted to us.”

The statement concluded, “Her artistic accomplishments will forever bring humor, light, and love for generations to come, and her brilliance and generosity of spirit touched everyone around her. We will hold her in our hearts, always.”

Catherine O’Hara’s death at age 71 has rocked the celebrity world, with many of her former costars and friends reacting to the tragic news. O’Hara died on Friday, January 30, at her home in Los Angeles “following a brief illness,” according to a statement from her agency, Creative Artists Agency. The legendary actress was known […]

Seth Rogen and his The Studio costars Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn and Chase Sui Wonders were scheduled to participate in the streamer’s panel for the show on Tuesday. According to Deadline, O’Hara was not initially scheduled to attend.

Us Weekly confirmed on Friday, January 30, that O’Hara died following an undisclosed illness and brief hospitalization.

“Prolific multi-award-winning actress, writer and comedian Catherine O’Hara died today at her home in Los Angeles following a brief illness,” O’Hara’s agency, Creative Artists Agency, wrote in a statement to Us. “A private celebration of life will be held by the family.”

Amongst her most beloved film and TV roles, O’Hara recently starred as Patty Leigh on the debut seasons of The Studio. The show, created by 43-year-old Rogen, follows the new studio head of the fictional Continental Studio as he tries to keep the company profitable.

O’Hara won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series at the September 2025 awards ceremony, which was one of her last public appearances before her death. That same month, O’Hara also took home the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award at the TIFF Tribute Awards.

“Darling Eugene, when I think of my happiest days in this adventure and show business, I realize most of them have been with you,” O’Hara said, referring to her Schitt’s Creek costar Eugene Levy, who presented the trophy. “I thought I knew Norman Jewison, not personally unfortunately, but as a great Canadian. [He was an] internationally respected filmmaker who gave us so much beautiful, great work to enjoy forever.”

O’Hara went on and shared her “connection” to Jewison, who died in July 2024 at the age of 97.

“Norman Jewison was born in Toronto, as was I. Norman Jewison trained early on with the CBS, as did I,” she said. “He directed several episodes of the Wayne and Schuster Show, and many years later, I was in one sketch on the Wayne and Schuster Show. Norman Jewison loved to laugh, he said, ‘Not a day could go by without him laughing hysterically about something.’”

O’Hara, for her part, made many of her Hollywood colleagues laugh through the years.

“Really don’t know what to say. I told O’Hara when I first met her I thought she was the funniest person I’d ever had the pleasure of watching on screen,” Rogen wrote in a Friday social media tribute. “Home Alone was the movie that made me want to make movies. Getting to work with her was a true honor. She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, generous [and] she made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it.”

O’Hara is survived by her husband, Bo Welch, and their two sons.
