Stephen Colbert opened his monologue with a much more somber tone than standard, addressing ICE’s deadly taking pictures of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good that passed off in Minneapolis on Wednesday — and the Trump administration’s response to it.

“By now we have all seen the video,” says Colbert. “In it, as reported by the New York Instances, Good ‘seems to be turning away from a federal officer’, and, as reported by the Washington Publish, ‘the agent was capable of transfer out of the way in which and hearth at the least two of the three pictures from the facet of the automobile because it veered previous him.’ It positive seems to be like a federal agent gunned down an American citizen with out trigger in entrance of witnesses on a metropolis road. However the administration is telling you that you just did not see that. They’re saying you noticed him reply to an act of home terrorism. They’re telling you to imagine them and never your eyes.”

Colbert goes on to say that this must be an alarm bell for all the nation, no matter whether or not you reside in a purple or blue state.

“If we let this go on, no matter who your state voted for, someday you will have unaccountable, armed authorities brokers appearing with impunity in your city,” says the host. “So peacefully, and non-violently, let your leaders know you do not need that.”

Elsewhere, Jimmy Kimmel and The Each day Present‘s Ronny Chieng have additionally reacted to the taking pictures.
