Outage Details Emerge

Reports on Downdetector highlight issues starting shortly before 12 p.m. PT on Wednesday. Numerous listeners face account access problems, with Spotify Family plans unexpectedly shifting to Basic, ejecting members entirely.

Individual Premium subscribers report similar downgrades to Basic tiers. Even Basic plan holders see their accounts drop to Free status, triggering unwanted ads between tracks.

Spotify Confirms Investigation

Spotify acknowledged the disruptions via social media: “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out.”

The company’s website provides further details: “We’ve received some reports about Basic plans users who noticed they’re getting ads and their accounts appear as Free on the mobile app, but the account overview does show they’re Premium. We’re currently investigating this behavior.”

Analysis indicates the outage impacts a wider range of subscriptions beyond Basic plans alone.
