Real Madrid have been handed a significant blow as Jude Bellingham is reportedly set to spend up to two months out injured. The England international was forced off in the opening stages of his side’s 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga earlier this month.
A report from journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon has revealed that while it was initially estimated by Real Madrid that Bellingham would be out for a month, he could spend longer on the sidelines. According to the journalist (via Marca), the midfielder could be out for a month longer than was previously expected with his hamstring problem.
Thanks for the submission!
Jude Bellingham was in the starting XI to face Rayo Vallecano but played for only ten minutes before he pulled up holding the back of his thigh. The 22-year-old was replaced by Brahim Diaz, who assisted the first goal and won the penalty for his side’s late winner.
Real Madrid were without Bellingham for their win over Valencia last weekend, and will be without the former Borussia Dortmund man for a number of key games. He will likely miss both legs of their UEFA Champions League playoffs against Benfica, as well as their derby meeting with Atletico Madrid on March 22nd.
Bellingham has been a regular this season under both Alvaro Arbeloa and his predecessor Xabi Alonso. The England international has played 34 times this season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists for his side across all competitions.
Real Madrid star holds talks with coach after Valencia snub: Reports
Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal has held talks with coach Alvaro Arbeloa after he was left out of the team that faced Valencia last weekend, as per reports. The veteran right-back was an unused substitute for Los Blancos as they cruised to a 2-0 win away from home.
Marca reports that Carvajal spoke with Arbeloa during Tuesday’s training session, with both parties clearing the air ahead of the remainder of the season. The situation between them has been put to bed and they are set to move on from it after their conversation.
Arbeloa opted to play David Jimenez from the start at the Mestalla before bringing on Trent Alexander-Arnold in the second half for his side. Carvajal remained on the bench, as he often has under the young tactician. The 34-year-old right-back has made two appearances, both off the bench, for Real Madrid since Arbeloa took over last month.
