King Charles received enthusiastic praise from Sir Rod Stewart during a star-studded event at the Royal Albert Hall. The monarch attended The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration, where he greeted celebrities including Rita Ora, Anne-Marie, and Craig David.

Sir Rod’s Candid Remark

The highlight came during an exchange with the 81-year-old music legend. As Sir Rod warmly shook the King’s hand, he congratulated him on the recent U.S. visit. “May I say, well done in the Americas,” Rod stated. “You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little rat bag in his place.”

The King maintained his composed demeanor without a visible reaction, though the comment drew laughter from nearby guests. Observers widely interpret the “ratbag” reference as directed at U.S. President Donald Trump, whom Sir Rod has criticized publicly in the past.

Shifted Relationship with Trump

Sir Rod and Trump were once neighbors in Florida and shared a friendly rapport. However, the singer has since distanced himself, describing Trump as “somebody I didn’t know.” He expressed concerns over Trump’s political decisions and personal conduct in previous interviews.

Praise for King’s Diplomatic Triumph

The commendation aligns with broad acclaim for King Charles’ four-day U.S. trip, viewed as a diplomatic win. A key moment was his address to a joint session of Congress, echoing his late mother Queen Elizabeth II’s historic speech.

Balancing humor and seriousness, the King joked: “King George never set foot in America and, please rest assured, I am not here as part of some cunning rearguard action!” He addressed global tensions, noting the world feels “more volatile and more dangerous” than before.

“The challenges we face are too great for any one nation to bear alone,” he told lawmakers, underscoring the vital UK-U.S. alliance. Even Donald Trump commended the address, stating to reporters: “He made a great speech. I was very jealous.”
