A mouth-watering slice of American life arrived through particular supply from Chicago to Rome on Wednesday, touchdown within the blessed fingers of an area boy who made good.

Pope Leo XIV was gifted a personal-size pie from Aurelio’s, a Chicagoland pie that’s been a longtime favourite of former Cardinal Robert Prevost, who went on to turn out to be the primary American chief of the world’s Catholics.

A sequence of associates within the Midwest hatched the concept of getting Pope Leo a field of his beloved pie, and Madeline Daley, a 22-year-old Cincinnati resident, ran the final leg of this trans-Atlantic supply.

Because the pontiff was being pushed throughout St. Peter’s Sq., she obtained his consideration by waving the field off pizza. Leo then appeared to gesture to one in all his safety guards to just accept the tacky reward.

The pope was handed the field and he appeared to smile and warmly gesture at Daley, sending her into delirious screams.

“When Pope Leo got here round, he stored grabbing infants to bless them, however as quickly as he noticed the pizza, he had infants in his hand, however he’s nonetheless saying, like, ‘Get me that pizza, I need that pizza,’” Daley advised NBC Information NOW’s “High Story with Tom Llamas.”

“And seeing the brand made him mild up, and his smile was from ear to ear and he was extraordinarily enthusiastic about it.”

Joe Aurelio, president and CEO of Aurelio’s Pizza, known as the papal supply “wonderful.”

“Pope Leo has been a lifetime Aurelio’s fan and going to Aurelio’s Pizza in Homewood, Illinois, because the Sixties,” the pizza government mentioned. “So it’s been a part of his life and for him to acknowledge [the pizza] and really cease there within the viewers was wonderful.”

The pope devoured the 6-inch pepperoni pizza, his brother John Prevost advised Chicago TV station WGN.
