Secretary of Battle Pete Hegseth on Friday introduced that the Division of Battle (DOW) is establishing a brand new counter-narcotics Joint Activity Drive within the Caribbean Sea. 

Hegseth stated the duty pressure’s intention can be to “crush the cartels, cease the poison, and maintain America protected. The message is evident: when you visitors medicine towards our shores, we’ll cease you chilly.”

The duty pressure is launching on the path of President Donald Trump, he stated, within the SOUTHCOM space, which covers the Caribbean and Latin America.

The U.S. Southern Command stated in a launch that the duty pressure was being launched underneath the II Marine Expeditionary Drive on Friday “to synchronize and increase counter-narcotics efforts throughout the Western Hemisphere.”

“Transnational prison organizations threaten the safety, prosperity, and well being of our hemisphere,” Admiral Alvin Holsey, the commander of SOUTHCOM, stated in a press release. “By forming a JTF round II MEF headquarters, we improve our capability to detect, disrupt, and dismantle illicit trafficking networks sooner and at better depth – along with our U.S. and partner-nation counterparts.”

This comes because the administration has begun strikes towards boats within the Caribbean it says are linked to drug trafficking networks.

The administration has carried out a collection of deadly strikes towards 4 small boats believed to be carrying medicine over the previous few months.

President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social on Friday that he ordered a lethal strike on a vessel linked to a designated terrorist organization operating in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility.

It stated 21 individuals have been killed within the strikes.

The assaults have alarmed Democratic lawmakers because the administration hasn’t detailed what proof it had towards the focused boats or their passengers.
