Fulham head coach Marco Silva has discussed Harry Wilson’s contract situation as Aston Villa shows interest in the Welsh forward.
Wilson, a Wales international, enters the final year of his deal and could become a free agent this summer. He continues to shine for Fulham, netting his 13th goal of the season in their Premier League victory over Tottenham on Sunday.
Silva’s Post-Match Comments
Speaking after the match, Silva highlighted Wilson’s form: “He is enjoying this season. He has the people around him to take care of these types of things, the contract situation.”
The coach added that Fulham is actively engaging: “Our club is trying to have contact with them as much as we can to try to solve it.”
Silva acknowledged the challenges: “As you know, I am not hiding myself at all in this moment. The better he is going to play, the fight is going to be bigger. It’s clear, but we prefer it this way.”
He noted the realities of expiring contracts: “Of course, when a player goes into the last year of his contract, if he performs so well like Harry is doing, these types of things are going to happen. The reality is that we are not giving up at all.”
Silva expressed satisfaction with Wilson’s contributions: “We are very pleased with him, he is enjoying life with us as well. Now is the moment for the people around him to take care of his future. And of course, for us as a football club to try to get him with us, if we can, for the next year.”
