Diane Ladd, the veteran, Oscar-nominated actress who starred in movie classics together with “Alice Would not Dwell Right here Anymore” and “Chinatown,” has died at age 89, her daughter, actress Laura Dern, confirmed this week.

“My superb hero and my profound present of a mom, Diane Ladd, handed with me beside her this morning, at her dwelling in Ojai, Ca,” Dern stated Monday in an announcement shared with ABC Information. “She was the best daughter, mom, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that solely desires might have seemingly created.”

“We have been blessed to have her,” Dern continued. “She is flying together with her angels now.”

Ladd was Oscar-nominated thrice, first for 1974’s “Alice Would not Dwell Right here Anymore,” and once more for the movies “Wild at Coronary heart” and “Rambling Rose,” launched in 1990 and 1991, respectively. Dern co-starred in each “Wild at Coronary heart” and “Rambling Rose” and was Oscar-nominated for the latter, making Dern and Ladd one among solely two parent-child duos nominated for Academy Awards for a similar movie, the opposite being Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda in 1981’s “On Golden Pond.”
