WWE made an announcement regarding Drew McIntyre following his controversial title loss on SmackDown. The veteran lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes this past Friday night on the blue brand.

The promotion took to social media today to announce that Drew McIntyre will be available for a meet and greet this Friday ahead of SmackDown. The event will be sponsored by Cricket and will take place in Phoenix, Arizona. You can check out the company’s announcement in the post below.

“Come meet the only real Scottish Warrior!”

The decision to take the title off of The Scottish Warrior ahead of WrestleMania has not been received well by fans. The video of the title change on the promotion’s YouTube page has been heavily disliked so far.

McIntyre won the title in January by defeating Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match on SmackDown. He successfully defended the title against Sami Zayn at Royal Rumble 2026 before losing it back to The American Nightmare on SmackDown last week.

Former WWE star pitches return to help Drew McIntyre

A former WWE star recently pitched his return to the promotion to help Drew McIntyre.

Speaking on the Developmentally Speaking podcast, Heath Slater suggested that he return to the promotion to help his former 3MB stablemate. Slater added that he would also like to work for the company in a backstage role as well.

“It’s like, if WWE ever called and was like, ‘Hey man, Drew [McIntyre] needs some help. We need to bring the band back together.’ I will be like h*ll yeah baby, sign me for about a year or two. I would follow it up like, yeah but after that could I be an agent or a trainer or something? You know, maybe help some of these kids out. But yeah I would totally follow up with that,” he said. Drew McIntyre, Heath Slater, and JDC (Fandango) attended Raj Dhesi’s (Jinder Mahal) wedding. ❤️

Drew McIntyre will reportedly be taking some time off following WrestleMania to film the Highlander reboot alongside Henry Cavill. It will be interesting to see how long Cody Rhodes can hang onto the title after his victory on SmackDown.
