Leylah Fernandez was recently outmatched by Switzerland’s Rebeka Masarova 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 64 of the Italian Open. Soon after, she shared a romantic post with her boyfriend, Vincent Boily, as the two made the most out of her early exit by exploring the touristy spots in Rome.

On Friday, the Canadian took the opening set before Masarova clinched a win in the second and third sets under 2 hours and 23 minutes, while winning 95 percent of the first serve points. The World No. 23, who is seeded 25th in Rome, finished with one ace and five double faults.

Not long after, the 23-year-old shared some highlights of her Rome escapade with her new boyfriend, an ice sled hockey player. The 2021 US Open runner-up shared snippets of multiple outfits from the Rome tour. In one, she donned a white sleeveless dress, layered with a beige jacket. In another, she kept it casual and chic in a black tank.

In the post, Fernandez uploaded some local sightseeing moments in front of the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, and more. The two also enjoyed a romantic outdoor Italian dinner, where they enjoyed a hearty platter of ravioli alfredo, tossed in a thick creamy sauce.

“Some Rome archives ✨” – Leylah Fernandez captioned the post.

Leylah Fernandez soft-launched her relationship with her new boyfriend last month, when Boily was in the background of a “get ready with me” post that she uploaded in April. Vincent is a 25-year-old from Canada. As a teenager, an unfortunate snowmobile accident caused partial paralysis and affected his original NHL dreams. But he channeled his love for the sport by joining the Canadian para ice hockey team, where he won a silver medal at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games.

Leylah Fernandez goes viral for refusing to let her sister date tennis players

Fernandez, in an exclusive interview, made her stance clear about not letting her younger sister date any tennis players. The Canadian shared a hilarious reason behind her strict decision.

“Honestly, it’s not because I want to protect my sister, I want to protect the guys” – Leylah Fernandez said.

Off the court, Fernandez’s sisters Jodeci and Bianca play an integral part in her life. In a clay court interview, the 23-year-old got honest about how tennis is only a part of her life and the role her sisters play to help her enjoy the cooling time and take a breather.

After an early Italian Open exit, Leylah Fernandez is set to begin her WTA 125 Paris campaign against Anna Blinkova in the Round 32 on the centre court.
