BCCI announces India A squad for June tri-series; Vaibhav Suryavanshi among IPL 2026 stars to get maiden call-up

India A’s squad for the tri-series in Sri Lanka in June has been announced by the BCCI. The squad was revealed on Thursday, May 14. Several IPL 2026 stars have been named in the squad, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi among others getting their maiden call-up.

Suryavanshi has impressed once again in the ongoing IPL 2026 season with 440 runs from 11 games so far at an average of 40.00 and a strike rate of 236.55.

The tri-series is set to be played among hosts Sri Lanka A, India A, and Afghanistan A. Along with Suryavanshi, other well-known names such as Tilak Varma, Priyansh Arya, Riyan Parag, Prabhsimran Singh, and Anshul Kamboj, among others, have been picked.

The one-day tri-series will commence on June 9, 2026, with hosts Sri Lanka A taking on India A. All the matches of the white-ball series are scheduled to be played in Dambulla. Mumbai Indians (MI) star Tilak will lead the Indian team, while Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Riyan has been appointed as his deputy.

India A Squad for Sri Lanka tri-series: Tilak Varma (C), Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Riyan Parag (VC), Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Kumar Kushagra (WK), Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan.

The Indian team will then play Afghanistan A on June 11, followed by Sri Lanka A on June 15, and Afghanistan A again on June 17. The final is set to be played on Sunday, June 21.

India A will also participate in a red-ball series against Sri Lanka A

Post the one-day tri-series, an Indian A team will also feature in a red-ball series against Sri Lanka A. Both teams will contest each other in two multi-day games. The schedule and the squad for the red-ball series are yet to be announced.

Coming to the white-ball tri-series, it will be a massive opportunity for several upcoming youngsters who have left their mark in the IPL with impressive performances.

While the likes of Tilak Varma and Riyan Parag have already established themselves to an extent, it will be interesting to see how the likes of Suryavanshi, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, and the others perform.
