Margot Robbie turned heads on the red carpet Tuesday at the West End opening of 1536 at the Ambassador’s Theatre. The Australian actress opted for a striking Alexander McQueen ensemble that blended grunge with sophistication, highlighted by a military-style black jacket adorned with gold braiding on the chest and cuffs, plus a high neckline.

She layered a simple black shirt beneath the jacket and paired it with low-rise black jeans that accentuated her toned midriff. Black heels, a matching clutch, and gold earrings completed the look, while her blonde hair fell in a chic half-up, half-down style.

LuckyChap Entertainment’s Role

Margot produced the play through her company, LuckyChap Entertainment. She explained its significance in a recent statement: “At LuckyChap, we’re always drawn to bold, female-driven stories, and Ava’s brilliant play is exactly that.”

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be coming on board as co-producers for its West End transfer,” she added. “The show is fearless, witty and emotionally resonant, and it gives voice to women whose stories still feel timely today. Bringing 1536 to the West End is an incredibly exciting next chapter, and we’re honored to help champion this phenomenal piece of art.”

Plot Overview

Set in Tudor England during King Henry VIII’s marriage to Anne Boleyn, the play follows three female friends confronting violence and rural life challenges.

Star-Studded Guest List

The premiere drew celebrities like Lily Allen, Baz Luhrmann, Emma Corrin, Hayley Atwell, Jessie Ware, and Simon Pegg. Lily Allen wore a black minidress under a coat with a vibrant green scarf. Emma Corrin chose striped gray trousers, a white collared shirt, and a red sweater.

Hayley Atwell impressed in a black turtleneck paired with a bouffant black skirt featuring scalloped edges and sheer white gauze layers. Jessie Ware selected wide-leg blue jeans, a white tee, and an oversized black blazer.

Recent Method Dressing Triumphs

This appearance follows Margot’s acclaimed Wuthering Heights press tour wardrobe. A fan of method dressing—wearing character-inspired outfits to promote projects—she led the trend during her 2023 Barbie tour, recreating iconic looks with stylist Andrew Mukamal.

They compiled unused outfits into a lookbook, Barbie: The World Tour. “I had the idea when I was in one of the fittings with Margot,” Andrew Mukamal shared. “I was collecting all these sketches and fabric swatches from designers, and I was like, ‘Wow, all of this would make the most beautiful coffee-table book.'”

“We still had a bunch of looks that didn’t get their moment,” Margot noted. “We were like, ‘Oh, that’s so sad.’ But then Andrew found a way for them to have their moment.”

For the Wuthering Heights tour, she featured designs from Victoria Beckham, Alexander McQueen, Schiaparelli, Chanel, Thom Browne, Maison Margiela, Vivienne Westwood, and Dilara Findikoglu.
