Dramatic Scene Unfolds in Footage

Bystanders, including the victim’s heavily pregnant girlfriend, rush to his aid. She removes her jacket to cover his bare torso as police officers stand nearby, bandaging his head while awaiting an ambulance. Officers keep the victim conscious until paramedics arrive.

Sequence of the Violent Encounter

The altercation stemmed from a personal grudge. A witness described how the attacker approached the victim on the street, demanding money. The victim then retrieved a screwdriver from his girlfriend’s nearby flat and stabbed the assailant in the mouth. The attacker pulled out the tool, fought back, and plunged it into the victim’s head.

The screwdriver lodged diagonally through the skull, from the nose area to the teeth beneath the temple.

Medical Intervention and Recovery

Emergency services transport the victim to a hospital in Elche, where surgeons successfully extract the screwdriver. He remains stable after the procedure.

Background on Those Involved

The victim, soon to become a father, lives with his girlfriend—who already has three children—in social housing. He engages in minor hustling activities. Police identify the victim as Moroccan and the 37-year-old attacker as Algerian.

The attacker seeks treatment at a nearby health center for a severe cheek wound, including severed muscle tissue, leading to his swift arrest.

Arrests and Investigation

Authorities arrest both men on suspicion of assault and attempted homicide. Investigators now probe the exact nature of their relationship and the motive behind the fight.
