Universal MagSafe Support Across iPhone Lineup

This update ensures every new iPhone sold by Apple now features MagSafe, a hardware capability absent from any Samsung Galaxy smartphone. The iPhone 16e, introduced last year as a successor to the iPhone SE, previously lacked this technology. MagSafe debuted with the iPhone 12 in October 2020, and for the first time, all current models support it without needing a case.

MagSafe Enhances Accessories and Charging

The built-in magnets on the iPhone’s rear enable secure attachments for accessories such as wallets, stands, and battery packs. Wireless charging also improves significantly through precise coil alignment that snaps into place effortlessly.

Samsung Opts Out of Built-in Magnets

Samsung Galaxy devices, including premium models, omit internal magnets. Industry observers criticize this choice, noting that most users rely on cases. A Samsung executive recently commented on the decision, highlighting Apple’s success in integrating MagSafe into slim designs like the iPhone Air while maintaining strong battery performance. In contrast, Samsung depends on third-party case manufacturers to handle magnet placement, strength, and quality, leading to inconsistent accessory experiences. Apple’s direct implementation sets a reliable standard for magnetic support.
