The group that oversees the Nobel Peace Prize is throwing chilly water on speak of Venezuelan opposition chief María Corina Machado giving her current award to President Trump.

As soon as the Nobel Peace Prize is introduced, it may’t be revoked, transferred or shared with others, the Norwegian Nobel Institute mentioned in a brief assertion on Friday.

“The choice is ultimate and stands forever,” it mentioned.

A consultant for Machado didn’t instantly reply to a message searching for remark.

The assertion comes after Machado indicated she’d like to provide or share the prize with Mr. Trump, who oversaw the profitable U.S. operation to seize authoritarian Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro. He’s dealing with drug trafficking costs in New York.

“I definitely would love to have the ability to personally inform him that we consider — the Venezuelan folks, as a result of this can be a prize of the Venezuelan folks — definitely need to, to provide it to him and share it with him,” Machado informed Fox Information host Sean Hannity earlier this week. “What he has finished is historic. It is an enormous step in direction of a democratic transition.”

Machado devoted the prize to Mr. Trump, together with the folks of Venezuela, shortly after it was introduced. Mr. Trump has coveted and has brazenly campaigned for successful the Nobel Prize himself since his return to workplace.

When requested about Machado’s feedback in his personal interview with Hannity Friday, Mr. Trump responded, “I’ve heard that she needs to try this, that will be an incredible honor.” 

The president informed Hannity that Machado is predicted to go to Washington subsequent week and meet with him.

“I sit up for saying howdy to her. That may be an incredible honor,” the president mentioned.

Relating to governing Venezuela after Maduro’s seize, although, Mr. Trump has to this point backed another person: appearing President Delcy Rodríguez, who served as vp below Maduro.

He is referred to as Machado a “very good lady” however mentioned she would not at present have the help inside Venezuela to control.

In an interview with “CBS Night Information” anchor Tony Dokoupil on Tuesday, Machado responded “Completely sure,” when requested if she needs to be Venezuela’s subsequent chief, noting that her coalition has a president-elect in Edmundo González, who the U.S. and different governments acknowledged because the winner of the 2024 election towards Maduro.

“We’re prepared and prepared to serve our folks, as we have now been mandated,” she informed Dokoupil.
