To the editor: There’s nothing romantic about coyotes, or different wild animals, copulating in residential areas (“Anticipate to see extra coyotes in your neighborhood. Right here’s why,” Jan. 8). The angle of studying to dwell with them is unsuitable and comes from misplaced empathy (as does feeding wild animals, together with squirrels, which finally feeds coyotes).

Till 16 months in the past, there have been no coyotes in my neighborhood within the Flats. Individuals would hike with their canine off leash in Griffith Park with no coyotes in sight. Coyotes had been afraid of people and hid. Abruptly, they’ve seemingly misplaced their concern, possibly as a result of persons are feeding them.

The county must have a program to scare them off so they don’t seem to be in residential neighborhoods they usually return to how they existed for many years.
