To the editor: The Environmental Safety Company’s determination to embrace ignorance over data will price us dearly, in each lives and {dollars} (“EPA says it can cease calculating healthcare financial savings from key air air pollution guidelines,” Jan. 14).

Credible estimates for annual U.S. deaths linked to fossil gasoline air pollution vary from 91,000 (for air pollution from the oil and gasoline industries alone) to 350,000 (from a 2018 rely). The air pollution could also be liable for as much as one-tenth of annual untimely deaths within the U.S.

Companies (and all of us) pay to rent and retrain workers changing those that die or are disabled attributable to fossil gasoline air pollution. In need of demise, fossil gasoline air pollution drives up medical payments and insurance coverage prices for everyone.

Final 12 months, China introduced extra photo voltaic vitality on-line than the remainder of the world mixed, offering China with practically free vitality for many years. How will our producers compete whereas locked into costlier, lethal and seemingly unending fossil gasoline bills?

Throw in elevated climate-related disasters together with hurricanes, floods, droughts and wildfires, and we’re speaking about some severe cash.

To the editor: Are human lives a worth value calculating? President Trump’s EPA says no.

Claiming such evaluation is “deceptive” is a pretext. The president and his allies within the fossil gasoline trade need to bury the proof that burning fossil fuels for vitality is lethal. For this administration, the one quantity that issues is the company backside line. That have to be decreased. Hearts, lungs and lives are expendable. Even the greenback financial savings from decreased physician’s workplace and hospital visits, and missed work and college, have to be ignored to finish the fantasy.

This enables false claims that emissions laws haven’t any profit. In Trump’s alternate actuality, the various, indeniable connections between international heating, air air pollution and human well being don’t exist.
