To the editor: I’m sorry former Vice President Kamala Harris determined to not run for governor of California (“Kamala Harris says she is just not operating for California governor,” July 30). She is the one Democrat who has the full bundle to guard California’s future. Harris has the character; the state, native and nationwide political expertise; and the mandatory expertise, experience and management to battle President Trump and the ways he’s attempting to make use of to get California to bend the knee.

Harris is a statesman revered by leaders around the globe, the place character, belief, integrity, fact and dedication matter. And in her presidential bid to guide the nation, she had a stable home agenda that Trump dismissed with lies about his personal skills.

California wants “Gov. Harris,” a governor who would learn about our struggles with the homelessness disaster, excessive home-buying prices, excessive prices of dwelling and the way to defend our economic system and other people from being attacked by the Trump administration. Hopefully, Harris will rethink her determination to not run for governor and acknowledge her management is critical right here.

Donald Peppars, Pomona

..

To the editor: Harris has nothing to show to anybody. Her file speaks for itself. She served California with distinction as legal professional normal and senator. Her service as vp of america has solely amplified that affect on a nationwide and world scale.

Hypothesis or political noise, the reality is obvious: She’s already made historical past and extra importantly, she’s made a distinction. She ran an inspiring marketing campaign for president and the lots are actually realizing the type of management we missed. No matter her subsequent steps could also be, her voice, expertise and advocacy are wanted and appreciated.

Conrad Angel Corral, Cathedral Metropolis

..

To the editor: It was mildly shocking to notice that Harris won’t search the California governor’s seat. One would have thought she would see it as a stepping stone to the presidency. However on the entrance web page of the California part, the obvious motive involves gentle with a narrative about how a 2026 governorship would intervene with the timeline for the following presidential nomination cycle (“By scrapping bid for California governor, Harris boosts White Home prospects — if she runs,” July 30).

Columnist Mark Z. Barabak posits that she wouldn’t need to enter the presidential cycle as a sitting governor if she gained. Actually? As Barabak factors out, different governors have.

The Democrats could be insane to even contemplate her for his or her nomination after the outcomes of the 2024 election. However don’t underestimate them.

Joseph A. Lea, Mission Viejo

..

To the editor: Two phrases for Harris concerning her choice to run for president: please don’t (“Run for president? Begin a podcast? Sort out AI? Kamala Harris’ choices are vast open,” July 31). We’d like new management, somebody who can show understanding and empathy for each events in addition to providing options that meet a greater diversity of wants. A response to the present administration is just not what’s wanted. A brand new imaginative and prescient that features each events is.
