Dangerous Highway Moment

Authorities reported that the tractor-trailer approached the active emergency scene at excessive speed before jackknifing into a snowbank. The out-of-control vehicle came perilously close to an occupied police cruiser parked at the location.

Charges Filed Following Investigation

The 25-year-old Timmins driver faces charges of careless driving and failing to slow down when approaching emergency vehicles. Officials confirmed no injuries resulted from the incident despite the close proximity of vehicles.

Police Reinforce Road Safety Laws

In a statement addressing the incident, law enforcement reminded drivers of Ontario’s ‘Slow down, move over’ requirements. The regulation mandates motorists reduce speed and change lanes when possible when passing emergency vehicles with activated lights.

“Everyone deserves to get home safely,” stated OPP Constable Kyler Brouwer. “When you see flashing lights, slow down and move over if it’s safe to do so.”

The near-miss highlights ongoing challenges emergency responders face during roadside operations across provincial highways.
