What is the IHG fourth-night-free perk?Who can use the IHG fourth-night-free benefit? How to use the IHG fourth-night-free benefitBottom line

IHG’s fourth-night-free perk is an easy way to get more value from your IHG One Rewards points.

Through the IHG fourth-night-free benefit, I saved 204,000 points across nine stays in 2025. Based on TPG’s February 2026 valuations, these points are worth $1,020.

Of course, the value you’ll get from the benefit will depend on how frequently you redeem IHG points for stays of four nights or longer and how many points the properties you stay at normally charge, but there’s potentially significant value in this benefit. So, here’s what you should know about IHG’s fourth-night-free benefit.

What is the IHG fourth-night-free perk?

IHG’s fourth-night-free perk is available with select IHG credit cards. Through this benefit, you can get every fourth night free on standard room reward night stays of four nights or longer.

So, when you redeem IHG points for a stay of four consecutive nights or longer, you’ll pay zero points for every fourth night in your stay.

On a stay of four to seven nights, you’d pay zero points for your fourth night and the standard room reward rates for the other nights. But on a stay of eight to 11 nights, you’d pay zero points for the fourth and eighth nights.

There’s no limit to the number of zero-point nights per stay, nor the number of times you can use the fourth-night-free benefit within a calendar year.

Who can use the IHG fourth-night-free benefit?

The only way to get access to the IHG fourth-night-free benefit is to have the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card (see rates and fees), the IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card (see rates and fees) or the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card (see rates and fees).

Here’s a look at the current welcome offers on these IHG credit cards:

  • IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card: Earn 90,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Plus, earn up to 30,000 bonus points by earning an additional 3 points per dollar spent on purchases (on up to $10,000 in spending), excluding those made at IHG Hotels & Resorts, in the first six months from account opening.
  • IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card: Earn 140,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

How to use the IHG fourth-night-free benefit

If you have the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, the IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card or the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card, you’ll automatically get the fourth reward night free when you redeem points for a standard room reward night stay of four nights or longer. Just log in to your IHG account on the website or app and search for an award stay of four or more nights.

For each result, you’ll see a nightly award rate, as well as the struck-through price you’d need to pay if you didn’t have access to the IHG fourth-night-free benefit.

Click “Select Hotel” to view the room types available at that rate. For each room type, you’ll also see some nondiscounted points and cash options.

If you click the “i” next to “Reward Nights” and then click the caret symbol next to the total points cost, you can see the night-by-night points breakdown.

If you want to book an award stay, close this window and click “Select” for the room type and award rate you want. On the page that loads, you’ll see a note about your fourth night reward savings on the right. Check the details on this page and then click the button at the bottom to book.

Bottom line

As you can see, it’s incredibly easy to use the IHG fourth-night-free benefit when redeeming IHG points for stays of four nights or longer.

The fourth-night-free benefit is available to cardholders of three IHG credit cards, including the no-annual-fee IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card. However, due to the automatic Platinum Elite status and anniversary free night on the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card and the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card, these cards often provide better value than the no-annual-fee card.
