Emmerdale actress Katie Hill, known for portraying Sarah Sugden, has announced the heartbreaking passing of her cherished pet dog, Millie, who reached the age of 16.
Katie Hill’s Emotional Tribute
Hill shared a touching carousel of photos on Instagram, featuring memories from her childhood alongside recent images and a video of Millie frolicking in a field of yellow flowers.
“Our little Millie Moo, the best dog ever,” she captioned the post. “16 years of loving you, life won’t be the same without you. I’ll never forget all the beautiful memories we made. Sleep tight little baby, we will miss you so much and love you forever.”
Support from Emmerdale Co-Stars
Fellow cast members rallied around Hill with messages of condolence. Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa Woodfield, commented: “Awww Katie I’m so so sorry to read this. Sending love to you all.”
Beth Cordingly, portraying Ruby Milligan, added: “Sorry darling,” while Lisa Riley, known as Mandy Dingle, wrote: “So much love.”
Sarah Sugden’s Ongoing Storyline
On Emmerdale, Hill’s character Sarah Sugden and her husband Jacob Gallagher, played by Joe-Warren Plant, revel in parenthood after gaining custody of what they believe is their biological daughter.
The couple had turned to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) as a surrogate amid their desire to start a family. However, Charity became pregnant with Ross Barton (Michael Parr) during the IVF process and chose to conceal the truth, allowing Sarah and Jacob to raise the child in blissful ignorance.
Dr. Todd’s Blackmail Plot Thickens
Tension escalates as Dr. Todd, portrayed by Caroline Harker, who has been tormenting Jacob, uncovers Charity’s secret. She now leverages this knowledge for blackmail.
“I think there is a part of her that wants to do it, but I think she wants that money more,” Harker explained. “I think that the power that she could say a tiny thing…”
Charity grapples with the pressure, as Atkins described: “She fights with that whole thing of like, ‘Do you know what? Maybe I just need to face the music.’ But she battles with that and then decides, no way. I’ll just do whatever I need to do to keep the secret, and then they go on this journey, Todd and Charity, which is where we’re at now, and it’s brilliant.”
