Kimberly Scott, the 51-year-old ex-wife of rapper Eminem, appears disoriented in newly released bodycam footage from her DUI arrest in Michigan on February 16.
The Incident Unfolds
Chesterfield Police Department officers took Scott into custody after she allegedly crashed her white Range Rover into a parked car on the street, then drove home and slammed into her garage door. Court documents list charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and failure to stop or identify after causing property damage.
Scott was driving her teenage son Parker and three of his friends to go shopping around 8 p.m. ET when the first crash occurred. Instead of stopping, she returned home, where the second impact damaged the garage door, her vehicle’s passenger-side headlight, and bumper.
A neighbor who witnessed the garage crash called police. Officers noted the vehicle had also scraped the garage door earlier.
Bodycam Interaction with Police
In the footage, Scott, wearing a tank top and blue jeans, explains to officers that a ‘little blue car’ swerved into her lane, forcing her Range Rover into a pickup truck on the right. ‘I didn’t see the pickup truck, but I felt the impact and my car felt the impact,’ she states.
She attributes distractions to ‘screaming and yelling’ children who believed they were being followed. When asked about alcohol or narcotics, Scott replies, ‘No.’ However, she admits drinking ‘an hour, two hours, maybe three hours ago.’
Officers searched the vehicle and found alcohol. Scott later dons a hooded zip-up sweater for a preliminary breath test, after which they handcuff her. She requests that police notify her family.
Scott received treatment at a hospital for unspecified injuries and was discharged early the next morning.
Family and Background
Scott shares 30-year-old daughter Hailie Jade with Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III. Eminem adopted her daughter Stevie Laine Scott, born in 2002 to Scott and Eric Hartter, who died in 2019. He also adopted niece Alaina Marie Scott, 32, daughter of Scott’s sister Dawn, who passed away in 2016 after struggling with addiction.
The couple met in 1987, married in 1999, divorced in 2001, remarried briefly in 2006, and split again that year. Scott, a Warren, Michigan native, has overcome her own battles with addiction.
