Dan Bongino says he is leaving as deputy FBI director in January

Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino mentioned Wednesday he will likely be leaving his place in January.

Bongino had been telling colleagues that he’ll probably depart within the new 12 months, in response to sources aware of his considering, however no official announcement has been made.

He has been slowly cleansing out his workplace, sources instructed ABC Information.

President Donald Trump was requested by reporters about Bongino’s future throughout a short gaggle on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews Wednesday afternoon and replied, “Dan did a terrific job. I believe he wished to return to his present,” referring to the podcast Bongino previously hosted.

In a submit on X, Bongino thanked Trump, Lawyer Normal Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel “for the chance to serve with goal.” 

“Most significantly, I wish to thanks, my fellow Individuals, for the privilege to serve you,” he added. 

“God bless America, and all those that defend Her,” he added.

Bongino’s future had been unsure since July amid the fallout over the Justice Division’s choice to not disclose any extra information from its investigations into deceased intercourse offender Jeffrey Epstein, a number of sources aware of the matter confirmed to ABC Information.

Sources mentioned that Bongino had recommended to allies he would possibly resign following the outrage over the announcement.

Bongino ceaselessly touched on the Epstein case on his podcast.

In a 2023 episode, Bongino instructed listeners, “That Jeffrey Epstein story is a giant deal … Please don’t let the story go,” blaming folks within the “Washington swamp who will not be telling you the reality.”
