Guardians for the children of former American Idol contestant Caleb Flynn have filed for a restraining order against him to protect family assets while he remains jailed on charges of murdering his wife.
Alleged Shooting Incident
Caleb Flynn, 39, faces accusations of fatally shooting his wife, Ashley Flynn, 37, in the head at their home in Tipp City, Ohio, on February 16. Their two young daughters slept in the house at the time. Flynn initially reported a break-in to authorities, but investigators later arrested him for allegedly staging the crime scene.
Charges and Court Status
Flynn pleaded not guilty last month to counts of murder, assault, and tampering with evidence. He currently sits in solitary confinement at an Ohio facility. In a recent filing before Judge Anthony E. Kendell in Miami County, Ohio, the guardians—acting as victims’ representatives—request financial documents related to Flynn’s assets. They oppose his motion for access to certain case materials, citing potential conflicts.
The court petition seeks to block Flynn from transferring any assets, including those of the late Ashley Flynn, to safeguard the children’s interests. Targeted items include vehicles, cash holdings, and retirement portfolios.
Bodycam Footage Captures Aftermath
Police bodycam video shows Flynn crying and panicking after the incident. He exclaims, “Oh my God,” and asks an officer, “Is she gone?” During a call to his mother, Flynn states, “Ashley’s dead—mommy, she’s gone—I don’t know what to do.” He later vomits, saying he feels sick, and slips while telling the girls’ grandmother, “The girls don’t know.”
American Idol Background
Flynn appeared on season 12 of American Idol in 2013.
