Caitlin Clark has ignited criticism from fans after appearing on stage with country singer Morgan Wallen shortly after the Indiana Fever’s season-opening defeat.
The Surprise Concert Appearance
The Indiana Fever star made an unexpected entrance during Wallen’s signature walkout at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday night. This occurred during the second night of his sold-out tour, drawing cheers from the crowd despite the team’s earlier 107-104 loss to the Dallas Wings.
Clark’s teammate Sophie Cunningham attended the event, capturing the moment from floor seats and sharing it on Instagram with the caption: ‘You bada** b****.’
Fan Reactions on Social Media
A portion of Clark’s supporters voiced frustration online, particularly on X, over her decision to attend the concert so soon after the game.
One fan commented: ‘She needs to focus on winning games and not missing game winners. She’s out of touch.’
Another described it as a ‘terrible look for CC after losing this afternoon [and] you out partying.’
A third expressed stronger dismay: ‘What the f*** is wrong with her? I’m out. Never wearing those jerseys again. Guess I am spending time today unfollowing and deleting Fever apps.’
On-Court Frustrations from the Opener
During the game, Clark engaged in a heated exchange with Dallas Wings guard Aziaha James. She tallied 20 points and seven assists in her first regular-season outing since 2025 but grew frustrated with the physical defense and what she called ‘flopping’ by opponents.
Clark left the court twice to address back stiffness amid the intense play.
Wallen’s Controversial Past
The partnership has divided opinions due to Wallen’s history of scandals. The 32-year-old singer faced backlash after using a racial slur in 2021 and was arrested in April 2024 for allegedly throwing a chair from a Nashville rooftop.
Fever’s Path Forward
Clark holds impressive records as the fastest WNBA player to reach 1,000 points, 250 rebounds, and 250 assists. However, the Fever continue to battle defensive issues and close-game execution.
The team prepares to face the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday.
