Ambrosia Sky: Act One debuted in November 2025 as an episodic immersive sim, where space researcher Dalia explores the fungus-infested ruins of her former home station. Developer Soft Rains originally planned two additional paid acts but now delivers the complete story through a single free update: Ambrosia Sky: Act Two, arriving later this year.

Act Two Delivers Closure and New Content

Act Two wraps up Dalia’s quest for answers amid the crisis in The Cluster and her urgent pursuit of Maeve. Players gain access to fresh mission sites, novel exo-fungus types for harvesting and challenges, plus an enhanced progression system with new upgrades.

Soft Rains explains that merging the final acts sharpens focus on a unified, refined, and emotionally satisfying conclusion to Dalia’s journey home.

Player Reactions Drive the Change

Narrative director Kait Tremblay and studio head Joel Burgess highlight player feedback as the key influence. Steam reviews revealed strong engagement with Dalia’s emotional path through The Cluster and her past connections.

“It really codified that there were a bunch of green lights down the board that this is going to make the story tighter,” Burgess states. “We feel like it’s going to allow us to maximize the parts of the game we’ve built that people like, gameplay-wise as well as the narrative.”

Tremblay notes the rapid player investment in Dalia and Maeve’s relationship. “I was expecting it to take longer for people to care about Maeve and Dalia’s relationship,” she says. “But it did not. People got in on that sapphic yearning right away. Knowing how quick people were able to invest and emotionally attach was like, ‘Okay, cool. That’s really useful story data for me.'”

Extending the tale risked diluting the momentum from Act One. “I didn’t want to pull the momentum out of that. It’d be like popping a balloon,” Tremblay adds. “Doing it in two parts really lets that momentum continue to build in a natural way and lets the pacing take its own course.”

The original three-act structure relied on a subplot that now seems to delay the core story players embraced, according to Burgess.

Episodic Approach Pays Off

Tremblay and Burgess praise the episodic model for enabling an early launch with a distinct identity, mechanics, and aesthetics, plus timely player validation. “For Soft Rains, I don’t know that there’s a one size fits all approach,” Burgess remarks. “But for Ambrosia Sky, I think this was the right decision for us, and I’m pretty happy we made it.”

Availability and Pricing

Ambrosia Sky: Act One remains available on Steam, with Act Two provided free to existing owners upon its tentative release later this year. Post-launch, the full game’s price rises from $15 to $25 to match its expanded scope. A 15% discount on Act One runs until March 13, offering the ideal entry point for Dalia’s adventure.
