To the editor: “Appalling” will not be robust sufficient. “Stunning” will not be robust sufficient. “Horrifying” will not be robust sufficient. There are not any phrases to explain the horrors described on this op-ed (“How does a 3-year-old rent an immigration legal professional?,” Dec. 18).

The picture of the youngsters in an immigration facility brings me to tears. We have now misplaced our minds, our hearts, our morals, our values and our souls. We’re not the nation that was a beacon of sunshine to the world, whose inhabitants sacrificed all the things to return right here for a greater life.

After studying the Los Angeles Instances in full at this time, I’m so heartbroken as to what we now have grow to be as a nation. I’m begging for all of us — Republicans, Democrats, independents, these of you who by no means vote and particularly these in Congress — to lift your voices loudly to cease this insanity. I celebrated my 89th birthday yesterday, and I’m decided to reside lengthy sufficient to see our beloved nation return to its former glory, with all its flaws. I hope everybody will be part of me on the poll field subsequent November and vote to finish this.

To the editor: As a retired trainer of 35 years in transitional kindergarten and kindergarten school rooms, it took power and persistence for me to not weep whereas studying this op-ed.

As we arrive into the Christmas season, with an administration that pays lip service to Christianity, I ponder: The place are the Christian values? Do we now have a battle on Christmas or a battle on Christianity? That is definitely not the Christianity I grew up with.

..

To the editor: The image of little kids ready alone in a playpen broke my coronary heart. Probably the most susceptible in our society being handled on this trend is immoral.

These are little ones who, via no fault of their very own, have been thrown right into a authorized system that appears to disregard the truth that they’re unable to talk for themselves and want our assist.

The place has compassion and decency gone once we suppose this example is appropriate? It isn’t. It by no means will likely be.

Micki Wooden, Fullerton

..

To the editor: After listening to President Trump’s histrionic, lie-infested speech Wednesday night time and studying his disgusting response to the deaths of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner, I turned this morning to 2 articles that describe happenings that we wouldn’t have recognized about with out the work of intrepid journalists.

We be taught {that a} 3-year-old lady is dropped at immigration court docket, must be helped up into the chair after which, with out a guardian or formal illustration, she is required to clarify the risks in her residence nation that introduced her right here.

Simply pages away, we be taught that this administration is planning to dismantle one of many prime local weather and climate analysis facilities on the planet, positioned in Boulder, Colo. (“Trump administration strikes to dismantle main local weather and climate analysis middle,” Dec. 17) Apparently, there may be an excessive amount of local weather “alarmism.” So preserve your eyes on the skies. Don’t depend on correct climate information that may assist you to put together prematurely for upcoming disasters.

This isn’t the America I’ve recognized and beloved my entire lengthy life.
