To the editor: It’s tough to reconcile workers author Jaweed Kaleem’s report on UC campus antisemitism (“Instances Investigation: Ex-Trump DOJ attorneys say ‘fraudulent’ UC antisemitism probes led them to stop,” Dec. 13), which focuses on just one facet of the story, with the next assertion from U.S. District Court docket Choose Mark C. Scarsi in Frankel vs. UC Regents:
“Within the 12 months 2024, in america of America, within the State of California, within the Metropolis of Los Angeles, Jewish college students had been excluded from parts of the UCLA campus as a result of they refused to denounce their religion. This reality is so unimaginable and so abhorrent to our constitutional assure of non secular freedom that it bears repeating, Jewish college students had been excluded from parts of the UCLA campus as a result of they refused to denounce their religion. UCLA doesn’t dispute this. As a substitute, UCLA claims that it has no duty to guard the spiritual freedom of its Jewish college students.”
With this factual background, I hope all Individuals assist the Justice Division’s investigation into potential civil rights violations in opposition to Jewish college students on UC campuses — no matter who sits within the Oval Workplace.

To the editor: The widespread and, sure, even not often violent protests by faculty college students over what’s occurring in Gaza had nothing to do with antisemitism. They had been about combating the unimaginable struggling of the Palestinians and criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right authorities for his or her assaults on the Palestinian individuals.
It has all the time been the proper of scholars and an amazing necessity to protest wrongdoings and assaults on human rights.
