To the editor: This text gives no perspective on the constructive expertise public transitional kindergarten offers to 4-year-olds beforehand served by preschools and little one care (“Unintended opponents: Why L.A. preschools are closing as transitional kindergarten thrives,” Dec. 3). As a grandparent, I can attest to the expansion my at present 4-year-old grandson has attained in transitional kindergarten; sadly, his two older cousins attended preschool solely and their early childhood training can not examine.

The article appears to lament preschools that should retool to remain viable. With younger lives so valuable, their high quality experiences far outweigh the financial hardships of some preschool house owners.

We’ve all needed to make changes in each trade. Solely displaying the views of those that really feel the state has made some error in providing transitional kindergarten for all doesn’t inform the complete story.
