Extra to LearnLetters to the Editor: Relocating priceless Getty collections to downtown wouldn’t essentially guarantee their security

Dec. 9, 2025 5:30 AM PT

To the editor: The article about potential conflicts of curiosity and failures by our insurance coverage commissioner, Ricardo Lara, is an ideal instance of how the businesses which can be supposed to control companies abdicate their duties (“Worldwide journey. Fancy meals. Lacking receipts. Who paid the tab for this prime official?,” Dec. 4).

Insurance coverage firms bail on California whereas our commissioner holidays and the California Public Utilities Fee seemingly permits electrical firms to dictate what they need and simply rubber-stamps it. It has authorised elevated Edison electrical payments, bypassing accountability for potential failures in stopping wildfires whereas Edison’s executives proceed to get enormous salaries. “No accountability” appears to be the motto of the day for California regulators.

To the editor: Studying the story about Lara in the identical concern, I feel it might be clever to open a portal to report the conduct of state officers (“California leaders launch on-line portal the place ‘federal agent misconduct’ will be reported,” Dec. 3).
