President Trump continued verbal assaults on Minnesota’s Somali neighborhood on Wednesday. Throughout a tirade, Trump — whereas discussing alleged fraud in Minnesota’s social companies methods — referred to as immigrants from Somalia “rubbish” and mentioned “they’ve destroyed our nation.” He additionally talked about deporting Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat who represents the biggest Somali American inhabitants within the U.S.

Omar, who immigrated to the U.S. at age 12 and is now a U.S. citizen, joined Morning Version to talk about the president’s remarks. She referred to as Trump’s rant “vile” and mentioned it was no shock as a result of he has “trafficked in racism, in xenophobia, in bigotry, in Islamophobia for so long as he has held workplace.”
