Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent mentioned the Trump administration is engaged on bringing down US health-care prices and an announcement to deal with the difficulty is deliberate for this week.

“We consider well being care’s going to come back down,” Bessent mentioned Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press in response to a query about Vice President JD Vance asking People for “just a little little bit of endurance” because the White Home works out a plan to deal with the price of dwelling.

“We’ll see an announcement this coming week on that,” he mentioned.

Trump mentioned final week he hopes to safe a plan by Jan. 30 to deal with an impending surge in medical health insurance premiums brought on by subsidies that expire at end-2025. Democrats secured victories in gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey this month after campaigning on affordability, including stress on the White Home forward of the 2026 midterm elections.

Whereas Bessent didn’t provide specifics, Trump has mentioned he opposes congressional efforts to increase expanded Reasonably priced Care Act subsidies — the flashpoint within the US authorities shutdown that ended on Nov. 12 — and favors sending support “instantly” to People.
