Registered nurses who work at 19 College of California services have ratified a brand new contract after voting concluded Saturday.

The contract will cowl some 25,000 registered nurses and contains protections to enhance affected person security and nurse retention by Jan. 31, 2029, in response to the California Nurses Assn.

The pact features a minimal 18.5% improve in pay, caps on healthcare will increase, restrictions on UC floating RNs between services, enhancements to meal and relaxation breaks and office violence-prevention insurance policies, the affiliation mentioned.

“College of California RNs organized for and received necessary affected person protections on the bargaining desk, like curbing the rampant misuse of floating and guaranteeing safeguards on synthetic intelligence,” mentioned Kristan Delmarty, an RN and member of the UC bargaining crew.

“Because of the dedication of all CAN members, we received a contract that can enhance outcomes for nurses and our sufferers,’’ mentioned Marlene Tucay, an RN at UC Irvine and member of the bargaining crew.

Below the contract, RNs have been assured a central position in deciding on, designing and validating new know-how, together with AI programs, the CNA acknowledged.
