LOS ANGELES — Dozens of firefighters had been battling a blaze on a container ship docked at a Los Angeles port on Friday evening, in line with officers.

All the 23 crew members had been accounted for and there have been no accidents from {the electrical} fireplace, which seems to have began beneath deck, in line with the Los Angeles Hearth Division. The ship’s cargo contains hazardous supplies.

By about 7 p.m., the hearth had unfold to a number of ranges of the ship, in line with the hearth division, and later an explosion occurred mid-deck. It was not instantly clear how the hearth began.

Greater than 100 firefighters had been combating the hearth on the Port of Los Angeles, in line with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. The port is called the busiest in North America.

“LAFD Hazardous Supplies corporations are monitoring air high quality as fireplace suppression continues,” she mentioned.

The 1,102-foot-long (336-meter-long) vessel, the One Henry Hudson, is operated by One Ocean Categorical, a delivery firm headquartered in Singapore. Earlier than Los Angeles, the ship had most just lately been in Japan, stopping in Kobe, Nagoya and Tokyo. One Ocean Categorical didn’t instantly reply to an e mail from The Related Press requesting remark.
