To the editor: The article on declines this season in Main League Soccer viewership was fascinating, if not a little bit shocking (“Why the 2026 World Cup might not assist American soccer leagues surge in reputation,” Nov. 4). I had thought MLS reputation has been rising steadily. As a soccer fan (as in, actual soccer, performed with the toes), leisure participant and longtime youth coach, I’ve discovered the standard of play vastly improved and even entertaining to look at today.
Nonetheless, even I’ve watched far fewer video games the previous two seasons. Why? As a result of they’re being aired on Apple TV, a paid streaming service.
At this important juncture within the historical past of MLS, it’s a enormous mistake to not broadcast video games on community, or “free,” tv, the place anybody can merely tune in and watch a recreation. I personally discovered it very irritating when video games went to Apple TV. Massive mistake.
