To the editor: As we age, we study increasingly more concerning the significance of social contact and interpersonal relationships, which make the getting older course of more healthy and extra pleasant. However as a substitute of corporations investing in that concept, we’re witnessing the glorification of and exorbitant sums of cash invested into synthetic intelligence and robotics, not all of which can result in discoveries that may profit mankind.
Sadly, driverless taxis and robots developed to displace employees and human contact might have critical social, psychological and financial penalties that needs to be addressed earlier than their widespread use (“Why is Uber deepening autonomous car ties with Chinese language companies?,” Oct. 28). By doing so, such new know-how must justify its significance to advertise the overall welfare and well being of our residents.
