An Australian lawsuit towards Microsoft over its subscription pricing has highlighted a solution to get entry to Microsoft 365 for cheaper, as long as you do not want entry to the corporate’s AI choices.

The lawsuit, from the Australian Competitors & Shopper Fee, accused Microsoft Australia and Microsoft Company of allegedly deceptive clients over subscription worth modifications. In October 2024, the fee argues, Microsoft instructed its subscribers that Copilot could be built-in into the Microsoft 365 Private and Household plans and that subscribers must settle for the mixing and pay more cash for it or they’d must cancel their subscription altogether, in line with TechSpot.

“The Microsoft Workplace apps included in 365 subscriptions are important in many individuals’s lives and given there are restricted substitutes to the bundled bundle, cancelling the subscription is a choice many wouldn’t make calmly,” the Australian Competitors & Shopper Fee stated, TechSpot reported.

Mashable Gentle Pace

The Australian Competitors & Shopper Fee argued that that is deceptive and misleading as a result of there’s a third, secret possibility. Whereas Microsoft would favor everybody makes use of its AI, customers can nonetheless, after all, use the Microsoft 365 Private or Household Traditional plans.

If you have already got Microsoft 365, need to save a couple of bucks, and are not notably keen on AI, there is a approach to do this. Merely signal into your Microsoft account, navigate to your subscriptions web page and choose “Handle,” then click on “Cancel subscription.” You may be prompted to downgrade to a different plan with fewer options, in line with Microsoft. Choose Microsoft 365 Private Traditional or Microsoft 365 Household Traditional, or one other plan that works for you.
