Carolina reserve goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov will miss the Hurricanes’ season opener in opposition to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday evening in Raleigh, N.C., due to an undisclosed damage.
Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour stated Kochetkov was “nicked up” and missed follow on Wednesday and Thursday. Rookie Brandon Bussi will again up starter Frederik Andersen. Bussi was claimed off waivers from the Florida Panthers on Sunday and joined the Hurricanes on Wednesday.
There isn’t a timetable for Kochetkov’s return and he might be evaluated once more on Friday, Brind’Amour stated. The goalie performed the whole sport in Carolina’s 3-2 time beyond regulation loss on Saturday on the Nashville Predators to conclude the preseason. He allowed three targets on 29 pictures for a .897 save proportion.
Kochetkov, 26, was 27-16-3 with a 2.60 goals-against common and .898 save proportion in 47 video games (all begins) final season.
He has began 112 of the 116 regular-season video games he has performed since his debut with Carolina within the 2021-22 season and is 65-36-12 with a 2.47 GAA and .905 save proportion.
Kochetkov is also 2-5 in 10 postseason video games (4 begins) with a 3.83 GAA and .860 save proportion, together with 1-1 with a 3.60 GAA and .855 save proportion final season.
