Trump administration mulling $10 billion support package deal for U.S. farmers, sources say

Washington — The Trump administration is contemplating a major monetary support package deal for farmers, based on a number of sources conversant in the discussions. The package deal might embody greater than $10 billion in aid.

The White Home is specializing in soybean farmers, since they have been onerous hit by the Chinese language boycott on American soybeans. Discussions in regards to the package deal are nonetheless in early levels, one of many sources mentioned. 

The Treasury Division and Agriculture Division are concerned within the talks. High White Home financial adviser Kevin Hassett mentioned on CNBC Monday that “we have had quite a few conferences over the past week or two” about “what we’ll do” in regards to the hit farmers have taken. He promised the administration would take “massive measures” and “these massive measures are gonna be public actually, actually quickly.”

In 2024, China bought $12.6 billion value of soybeans from the U.S., federal knowledge from the Agriculture Division reveals.

As harvest season will get underway this 12 months, China has made no U.S. soybean purchases.

Final month, President Trump urged some monetary support for farmers might come from tariff income. The Treasury Division says the federal authorities has collected roughly $215 billion in tariffs within the 2025 fiscal 12 months, which started in October 2024 and ended Sept. 30.
