The U.S. secured the discharge of an American citizen being detained in Afghanistan following months of negotiations on Sunday, Fox Information has discovered.

The U.S. and Qatar collectively negotiated for the discharge of Amir Amiry, U.S. Particular Envoy Adam Boehler informed Fox Information on Sunday.

“After we went to Kabul to select up George Glezmann six months in the past, I requested to see Amir Amiry. He was dropped at the airport gate and when he noticed us he began to cry. Secretary of State Marco Rubio celebrated Amiry’s launch, thanking Qatar in an X submit Sunday afternoon.

“At this time we welcome residence Amir Amiry, an American who was wrongfully detained in Afghanistan. I need to thank Qatar for serving to safe his freedom,” Rubio stated. “@POTUS has made it clear we won’t cease till each American unjustly detained overseas is again residence.”

Amiry’s launch comes roughly per week after the Taliban launched an aged British couple after eight months in captivity.

Barbie Reynolds, 76, and husband Peter Reynolds, 80, arrived in Qatar on Friday following months of negotiations between Qatar, the Taliban and Britain.  

The couple had lived in Afghanistan for 18 years, the place they ran an training charity. Regardless of the ordeal, Barbie Reynolds stated they might return to Afghanistan if they might. They’re each Afghan residents.
