Sacramento ABC TV station constructing struck by gunfire, police say

An investigation is underway after a tv station constructing in Sacramento was struck by gunfire, police affirm. 

No accidents had been reported, police say.  

Sacramento police say officers responded to the 400 block of Broadway, the ABC10 constructing, simply after 1:30 p.m. Friday to research studies of photographs fired.

On the scene, police say officers discovered that the constructing had been struck by gunfire. Police say at the very least three rounds struck the constructing, apparently hitting a window that faces Broadway.

The obvious bullet holes seen within the window of the ABC10 constructing. 

Police are classifying the incident as a drive-by taking pictures because it seems a car drove by the constructing, fired, then drove away. 

“We have not had numerous assaults on our media companions, and we might prefer to maintain it that means,” mentioned Anthony Gamble, a public info officer for the Sacramento Police Division. “That is unacceptable habits. And so , to those who could have been answerable for this, and I hope you see this, we’re not going to cease on the lookout for you. That is unacceptable habits. It isn’t going to be tolerated in Sacramento.”

No suspect info has been launched. Police say there is no such thing as a recognized motive presently. 

KXTV Channel 10 is an ABC affiliate station owned by Tegna. 

“Whereas particulars are nonetheless restricted, importantly all of our workers are secure and unhurt,” mentioned Molly McMahon, a spokesperson for Tegna. “We’re absolutely cooperating with regulation enforcement and have taken extra measures to make sure the continued security of our workers.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s workplace issued a press release on X after the governor was briefed on the taking pictures. 

“Whereas no accidents have been reported, any act of violence towards journalists is an assault on our democracy itself and should be condemned within the strongest phrases,” Newsom’s workplace mentioned. “We stand with reporters and workers who work day by day to maintain communities knowledgeable and secure!”
